From her childhood onward, Katie Cassidy—the offspring of 1970s teen idol David Cassidy—first recognized her musical gifts by harmonizing with radio broadcasts, then advanced to vocal instruction upon reaching age 12. Her regimen soon expanded to include piano and guitar training, while she also took part in neighborhood musical theater productions. As a Los Angeles teenager, she teamed with pop producer Joel Diamond, issuing her debut single in summer 2004—a contemporary version of her father’s bubblegum classic “I Think I Love You.” Later that autumn she appeared in a VH1 series tracing the evolution of teen music and kept up her academic work.
