Katie Henry

Katie Henry fuses blues and jazz through unexpected shifts, moving between organ-centered jazzy vamps and lean guitar-driven pieces. Her first album, the 2018 release High Road, tilted toward jazz and drew recognition from multiple blues and Americana groups, while the 2022 follow-up On My Way placed greater weight on guitar. The third studio album, Get Goin', appeared in 2024.

A Vernon, New Jersey native, Henry developed in a musical home, beginning piano lessons young and creating songs as a child. She pursued studies at Manhattan College while performing part-time, then chose a full-time path in music. After open-mic appearances and singing with a Bronx-based blues band, she launched a solo career and sharpened her abilities through New York club dates. This period led to work with bassist Antar Goodwin, who later acted as co-writer and musical director.

Self-releasing High Road in 2018 brought national notice, including nominations from IBMA and Blues Blast. Henry next issued On My Way, co-written with Goodwin and tracked with producer and guitarist Ben Rice; German label Ruf Records put it out in early 2022. She joined that imprint’s Blues Caravan tour with Belgian guitarist Ghalia Volt and Chicago’s Will Jacobs, and the resulting live set Blues Caravan 2022 reached stores in September. The 2023 single “The House Is Rockin’” paired her with Ally Venable and Bernard Allison, who also produced the 2024 album Get Goin’.
