Prior to issuing her debut record toward the end of 2006, Katie Price already ranked among the most celebrated women throughout Great Britain. Also known professionally as Jordan, she launched her career in modeling and expanded into a singular media force across the U.K. through authorship of multiple books, regular newspaper columns, television hosting duties, an exercise video appearance, and her own lingerie brand. Born Katie Infield on May 22, 1978, she spent her childhood in the seaside resort town of Brighton in East Sussex, England; although acquaintances recalled her as a late bloomer, at age 16 she followed a friend's suggestion by visiting a professional photographer to assemble a modeling portfolio. Adopting the name Jordan, she quickly secured assignments as a "Page Three Girl," appearing in the topless features long associated with British tabloids, and soon afterward featured in men's magazines including Maxim, FHM, and Front. Her profile rose sharply in 1998 after undergoing breast enhancement surgery that increased her bust measurement to a D cup, a step she viewed as shrewd entrepreneurship; as she informed one journalist, "Some people may be famous for creating a pencil sharpener. I'm famous for my tits." (Notably, the Sun subsequently excluded her from its pages once the paper declared it would feature only "all natural" models.) She next became a frequent contributor to the British edition of Playboy and graced the cover of its American counterpart in 2002. Public interest in her personal affairs intensified through reported romances with footballers Dwight Yorke and Teddy Sheringham, vocalists Dane Bowers and Gareth Gates, and Warren Foreman, recognized as "Ace" from the Gladiators television series. That visibility extended to the small screen, where she competed on the reality program I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, participated in Star in a Reasonably Priced Car, and portrayed herself on an installment of Footballer's Wives. During her stint on I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here she met singer Peter Andre, with whom she formed a close bond; the pair welcomed a son in June 2005 and married three months afterward. Having already established herself as an author with two autobiographies and an advice column in OK magazine, Price turned to music in 2005 by representing England at the Eurovision Song Contest. Although critical reaction to her Eurovision performance proved uneven, she and Andre recorded the duet album A Whole New World, issued in late November 2006; its title track achieved hit-single status, and the couple directed all proceeds from the project to children's charities.
