Biography
Katrina Carlson performs not only as a guitarist and singer/songwriter but also takes on acting parts in television productions, feature films, and off-Broadway plays. She appeared in Special Delivery, the 1999 film directed by her husband Kenneth Carlson that also featured Sean Young and Penny Marshall. After the project wrapped, she was invited to contribute music to the soundtrack. The opportunity prompted her to record her debut album, Apples for Eve, issued in September 2001 and led by the single “I Know You by Heart,” which evoked the work of Shawn Colvin, Carly Simon, and Paula Cole. Tracks by Carlson were also placed that same month in the high-school football documentary Go Tigers. She followed up in 2003 with her second album, Untucked, a more polished yet still rootsy collection. Here and Now arrived in 2007 and contained her cover of the Howard Jones hit “No One Is to Blame.” In 2011 Carlson turned from contemporary rock toward American popular song standards on the album One Night Standards.
