Biography
Originating in Brighton, England, Rose Keeler-Schäffeler launched the lo-fi singer/songwriter project Keel Her after starting to compose and capture her material inside her own bedroom. Drawing on both vintage and current indie pop alongside riot grrrl intensity, the songs surfaced on Soundcloud with unusual speed, sometimes appearing every day. Live performances featured guitarist James Levitt and drummer Andrew Barnes as part of the supporting lineup. Following a deal with Critical Heights, Keel Her put out the singles Prize Catch, Riot Grrrl, and Don't Look at Me before delivering the self-titled debut album, which included contributions from R. Stevie Moore and Hot Sugar and surfaced in February 2014.
