Born and raised in Northern Ireland, Keith & Kristyn Getty rank among the most influential and widely celebrated composers of Christian hymns in the twenty-first century. Their modern classic “In Christ Alone” stands as one of their signature contributions, having been recorded more than one hundred times. The award-winning pair wed in 2004 and now divide their time between Portstewart, Northern Ireland, and Nashville, Tennessee, together with their children. Their first album, In Christ Alone, appeared in 2006 and reached both the Billboard Top Christian Albums and Top Heatseekers charts in 2008.
The couple returned to those same rankings with 2009’s Awaken the Dawn. In 2011 they issued Hymn Makers: Speak O Lord, while their debut holiday project, Joy: An Irish Christmas, simultaneously climbed into the Top Ten of the Billboard Christian and holiday album charts. Hymns for the Christian Life, released in 2013, brought the duo their first entry on the Billboard 200. Selected material from these early projects was documented live that same year on Live at the Gospel Coalition.
In 2014 they delivered The Greengrass Session, characterized as “six hymns from the old world and the new,” which secured the number-two position on the Top Bluegrass Albums chart. Their next holiday collection, Getty Christmas, followed in 2015. Two releases arrived in 2016: Getty Kids Hymnal-In Christ Alone and Facing a Task Unfinished, the latter titled after a 1931 hymn the Gettys adapted for the project. The album featured contributions from Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Chris Tomlin.
