Biography
Kemani Tatyos Efendi served as court composer to Turkey’s sultan Abdul Hammid II and thereby established the groundwork for classical Turkish music. An exceptionally productive creator, he generated a broad array of instrumental and vocal works that encompassed xarkis or art songs, saz semais, and pexruvs. The Kudsi Erguner Ensemble honored him through two 1996 releases, Instrumental Works and Vocal Masterpieces.
