Ken Elkinson

Ken Elkinson entered the world on August 28, 1972, in Cedar Grove, NJ. From a young age he received training in classical piano, continuing those lessons until age 14, at which point his focus shifted to jazz and pop idioms. He also took up bass and guitar, then enrolled in music studies at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. During his college years he performed with an alternative rock ensemble, and upon receiving his degree in 1994 several of his own piano pieces had already begun to form. Elkinson relocated to Georgia, where he refined his songwriting craft before deciding the moment had arrived to lay down his first album, Midnight Conversation. To issue the project he established August Son Productions, which brought the record out in March 1997. Following favorable early responses, he relocated once more, this time to New York City, where he immediately began shaping material for a follow-up release. During his time in New York, Valley Records Distribution arranged a broader rollout of the debut. Throughout this period he maintained a schedule of live appearances in both New York and Georgia while continuing work on the next album.
