Biography
Athens-based singer/songwriter Ken Will Morton grew up in Hartford, Connecticut, where he performed regularly, composed material, and cut early recordings. In 1993 he relocated from the Northeast to Georgia in search of wider opportunities, which led him to assemble the power pop trio Wonderlust alongside drummer Kevin Watford and bassist Dave Siff. Although the band dissolved quickly, it issued an EP and a full-length album while also securing a spot on the Vans Warped Tour. Morton entered the roots rock collective the Indicators in 2001 and appears on the group’s second release, the 2003 album Kill the Messenger. He remained with the collective through 2004, completing work on his own debut solo record and issuing the long-awaited In Rock’n’Roll’s Hands that June. The Americana and No Depression communities responded with strong praise, likening Morton’s work to that of Bruce Springsteen, Ryan Adams, and Paul Westerberg. His second solo effort, King of Coming Around, followed in March 2006. The Devil in Me arrived in 2008, the same year “Oh Lord” was placed on the Discovery Channel series The Deadliest Catch. True Grit marked Morton’s debut on the Sojourn Records roster when it surfaced in 2010.
