Biography
Memphis-born Kendrick P. crafts ballads and slow jams that merge silky sensuality with unfiltered feeling. The contemporary R&B singer and songwriter has worked steadily since his late teens, laying early groundwork through independent efforts like MUSex (2014) and M.E. (2015). Those recordings shaped a sound that continued to mature through 2020s projects including W.Y.A.F. (2020), Years & Tears (2023), and MUS3X (2024), the third installment in a series begun a decade prior.
Growing up in a household of vocalists, Kendrick Patterson began honing his voice at six. As he developed, he absorbed classic and current R&B alongside a largely Southern strain of hip-hop. During high school he experimented with beat-making before deciding to focus on songwriting and performance. At seventeen he cut an EP-length collection titled MUSex and shared it online in 2014, shortly after graduation and amid mourning the shooting death of his closest friend. He kept turning to the studio for solace, advancing the following year with the nine-song M.E. and a follow-up to MUSex. Several standalone tracks, among them “All Yours,” appeared over the subsequent seasons.
Kendrick grew especially productive in the 2020s. W.Y.A.F. opened the decade and spotlighted the spare, romantic ballad “Vibe Slow.” In between albums he issued the forceful single “Come Correct,” which became one of his most prominent releases. The 2022 project 4u comprised nine tracks fronted by “No Answer,” a vehicle for his falsetto range. Years & Tears followed in 2023 with a comparable track count, again featuring “Come Correct” plus a guest verse from Don Trip on the opening title cut. The emotionally direct MUS3X, another nine-song set, arrived in 2024 and resumed the thread begun by MUSex II.
