Biography
Comprising the Nashville-based singers and songwriters Mary Ann Kennedy and Pam Rose, the roots-pop duo Kennedy Rose first united in 1981 inside the group Calamity Jane. Already established as in-demand session vocalists, the pair additionally gained acclaim for their songwriting prowess before resuming stage work under the Kennedy Rose name. After inking a deal with IRS Records, they released Hai Ku in 1989 and, five years afterward, Walk the Line. Though neither album achieved notable sales, Kennedy and Rose nonetheless became one of contemporary country’s premier writing partnerships, penning hits such as Martina McBride’s “Safe in the Arms of Love,” Restless Heart’s “I’ll Still Be Loving You,” Patty Loveless’ “You Will,” and Lee Greenwood’s “Ring on Her Finger, Time on Her Hands” together with “Dixie Road.”
