Biography
Kenneth Patchen composed poetry prior to the Beat era, during the 1930s and 1940s, with recordings of that material appearing in the 1950s. His delivery carried a more somber quality than Jack Kerouac’s and lacked the manic energy associated with Lenny Bruce, enabling him to convey expansive reflections on love, tragedy, sorrow, and hope, according to Michael G. Nastos.
