Biography
Kensington Market existed solely for a two-year stretch in the late 1960s, its membership made up of Alex Darou, Luke Gibson, Eugene Martynec, Keith McKie, John Mills-Cockell and Jimmy Watson. The Toronto group issued multiple singles ahead of its first album, Avenue Road, which surfaced in 1968. Varied textures paired with strong songcraft placed the LP among the strongest Canadian releases of the decade, yet the band dissolved immediately after 1969’s Aardvark appeared.
