Biography
Roots rock singer Kerri Powers, still early in her recording career, has drawn press comparisons to renowned artists including Shelby Lynne, Lucinda Williams, Rosanne Cash, Tammy Wynette, and Bonnie Raitt. A Boston native, she first encountered country music at age five while riding in her father's electric company truck, an experience that sparked her musical path. Powers has since shared stages with acclaimed performers such as Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Jimmy LaFave, Dan Hicks & His Hot Licks, Dave Mallet, and Luka Bloom. Her debut album, You, Me and a Redhead, appeared on the Leopard Skin label in 2001; it combined honest and heartfelt lyrics with elements of soul, blues, pop, zydeco, and country while featuring the Swinging Steaks' bassist Paul Kochanski and guitarist Steve Sadler along with drummer Craig MacIntyre and keyboardist Bob Malone.
