Biography
Kerry Christensen ranks among the scant few master yodelers residing in the United States. While visiting Austria during the mid-'70s he first encountered the distinctive vocal tradition, which immediately captivated him. At that stage he treated the pursuit as a pastime, yet he committed himself to mastering the technique by acquiring and analyzing recordings of the style. Raised on a farm in Idaho, Christensen enjoyed ample opportunity to refine his skills through repeated practice, ultimately emerging as a world-class performer renowned for his command of the rapid, intricate Bravour variant. A spontaneous meeting in 1984 with a Walt Disney World talent scout prompted Christensen and his family to move to Orlando, FL, where he performed as the resort’s resident yodeler for the following sixteen years. He has also issued multiple CDs that explore every facet of the vocal art form.
