Kevin Gordon

Born and raised in Monroe, Louisiana, Nashville-based alternative country-rock singer/songwriter Kevin Gordon absorbed the local swamp blues, honky tonk, and rockabilly sounds from an early age. After establishing himself as a published poet and earning a degree from the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop, he partnered with producer and E Street Band bassist Garry Tallent to cut his first album, Illinois 5 a.m., which appeared in 1997 on Nashville's Motherlode imprint. Two years later came Down to the Well, highlighted by a duet with Lucinda Williams. Additional artists who have cut Gordon's material include Keith Richards, Levon Helm, Irma Thomas, and Todd Snider.
