Biography
Kevin Hannan, a singer and songwriter in the modern rock vein, entered the world in New York City on November 3, 1970, and refined his abilities throughout the New York and New Jersey regions. Multiple years of studio labor preceded his decision to pursue music full-time toward the end of the 1990s. Shaped by the exploratory sounds and indirect words of R.E.M. and Tori Amos, he formed partnerships with fellow New Yorkers Michael LaGennusa and saxophonist Norman Salant. Although his first album, 1998’s Pictures of Dorian, attracted scant notice, his profile rose after he joined the board of OutMusic, the National Association of Gay and Lesbian Music Professionals. Hannan devoted the following two years to shaping his next effort, 2001’s Bridge to Atlantis, which drew favorable notices without generating sufficient exposure to carry his audience well past the New York City area.
