Forming the core of a Brooklyn-rooted urban R&B pair, Will Gardner—also called Iron Will—teamed with Tyrone Taylor, who performs under the name T-Wreck. Raised on the East side of New York, the two developed an early attachment to hip-hop as well as classic R&B. Their first full-length effort, A Tear Falls in Brooklyn, issued in fall 1997, struck a balance between the two styles.
