Biography
Born and raised in Burundi, the African nation, singer Khadja Nin speaks French, Swahili, and Kirundi. She names Miriam Makeba as her mentor while directing her lyrics toward humanitarian subjects drawn from her own experiences across the continent. Her debut album, Ya, arrived in October 2000 and featured contributions from Dominic Miller, Sting’s guitarist, as well as Howard Jones. Nin’s sound aligns with the worldly approach of Cesaria Evora and Les Nubians.
