Biography
The dreamy bilingual dream pop of Kibi James emerges from the profound connections shared by this Georgia threesome with Atlanta’s tight local scene. Formed in 2018, the outfit consists of Mari on guitar and keys, bassist MJ Corless, and drummer Pomi Abebe. Citing ’90s indie pop and Japanese Shibuya-kei among their touchstones, the group self-released the EP Azucar in 2019. Brooklyn-based indie Bayonet Records took notice and placed the band on its roster in 2022. Kibi James delivered its debut full-length, Delusions, in 2023, built from idyllic melodies, gentle harmonies, and reflective lyrics in Spanish and English.
