Biography
Steven Spence entered the world in Seattle, Washington, USA. Initially gaining notice as the DJ and keyboardist for Sir Mix-A-Lot, he later achieved modest recognition through his own first album. Following his 1988 graduation, Spence joined the collective that supported Sir Mix-A-Lot on the platinum-certified Swass album from that same year. The experience prompted him to launch a solo path, which quickly yielded results when the debut album delivered three charting tracks: “Back To Boom,” “Seatown Ballers,” and “Prisoner Of Ignorance.” The boastful album title mirrored the confident swagger running through much of its content, yet the next project shifted emphasis toward substantive themes in the lyrics. “I’m trying to show I’m a down to earth guy, it’s more of what I’m all about,” he stated. On the flipside of the promotional single “Ride The Rhythm” appeared “The Way I Swing,” a collaboration with Ken Friggy Jnr., the Seattle Mariners’ standout centerfielder whom Sensation idolized in sports.
