Biography
Kidbug fuses the abrasive guitar textures pioneered by Dumb Numbers’ Adam Harding with the hushed, hallucinatory leanings of Eerie Wanda’s Marina Tadic, forging a seamless balance of raw force and tuneful enigma on the duo’s self-titled debut, issued in 2020.
The collaboration originated in December 2018 when Harding and Tadic crossed paths at the Joyful Noise Christmas party hosted at the label’s Indianapolis offices. After tracking a handful of holiday numbers together, the two clicked immediately and chose to extend the partnership. Already known for his work behind the camera, Harding accepted Tadic’s request to direct a video for an Eerie Wanda track; meanwhile their professional rapport evolved into a personal one during her visit to the United States. Once Tadic returned to the Netherlands, the pair began trading material across continents and quickly assembled a set of songs. She soon traveled back to Indiana, where bassist Bobb Bruno of Best Coast and Swans drummer Thor Harris—then the label’s artist-in-residence—joined them for a three-day recording session. Melvins drummer Dale Crover also contributed, playing on the track “Dreamy.” The resulting self-titled album appeared at the close of May 2020.
