Sandra Érika Edgar came into the world on January 9, 1985, in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico, and later performed as the Latin pop singer Kika Edgar, sometimes shortened to Kika. Her initial break arrived near the start of the 2000s through acting roles on Mexican television, including appearances in the series Primer Amor.

In 2006 she shifted focus to music by entering the duo division of the reality competition Cantando por un Sueño. The exposure produced a covers collection issued that year on CD and DVD under the billing Kika y Raúl. Building on that momentum, she launched a solo trajectory through Televisa EMI Music, unveiling the album Kika before the close of 2006 and landing a hit single with “Tal Vez.” The next project, Lo Siento Mi Amor, followed in 2008 and reached the Top Ten in Mexico.
