Biography
In 1998 the quartet King Adora first appeared when vocalist Matt Browne and guitarist Martyn Nelson formed the group in Birmingham, U.K. Bassist Robert Grimmit soon completed the lineup, while drummer Dan Dabrowski answered a local newspaper advertisement. Early concerts built momentum, drawing attention from both fans and industry figures through the band’s distinctive sound, attitude, and image. A contract with Superior Quality Records followed, leading to the limited-issue single “Bionic” in May 2000, which met with strong approval. Festival dates across the U.K. that summer exposed the group to larger crowds, whose mix of provocative lyrics, rock drive, and glamour resonated widely and secured an October 2000 support tour with Mansun. A reworked version of “Bionic” returned in April 2001, and the debut album Vibrate You appeared the following month.
