Biography
Emerging in the early 1990s, King James arose as guitarist Rex Carroll’s latest Christian venture after the dissolution of the 1980s Christian rock outfit Whitecross. Already a two-time Dove Award recipient and five-time HM Magazine Critic’s Darling for his ferocious guitar playing, Carroll sought a fresh vehicle for further musical exploration. Joining forces with drummer Robert Sweet, formerly of Stryper, and bassist Tim Gaines, the group coalesced and promptly signed with StarSong Records, resulting in the self-titled debut album’s appearance in 1993. Following an extended hiatus and subsequent reorganization, King James delivered its second full-length effort, The Fall, in the middle of 2000.
