Kiotti, based in Houston, earned deep local affection as a radio personality while holding tightly to his identity as a musician, rapper, and songwriter. Beyond spinning records and hosting gatherings, he poured his attachment to the city into the polished 2018 track “H-Town for Real,” a Houston tribute.

Born Jerrel Brown, he was already performing and recording within Houston’s underground rap scene by 2003. Throughout the 2000s he issued multiple projects, the most prominent being the 2007 mixtape Almost Famous. As DJing and radio duties grew central, he—sometimes billed as “Hardbody Kiotti” in reference to his muscular build—rose among the city’s most prominent DJs. His broadcasts, like the events he hosted, supplied area hip-hop listeners with new music and exclusive interviews featuring both local and national artists. He maintained his creative work by issuing the 2018 city ode “H-Town for Real”; a remix followed the next year, and he also released the single “Bouncin’ Big Body,” which featured vocals from the emerging Houston rapper Zoda Great.
