Originating from London, Kiran Kai functions as a songwriter and DJ whose output merges murky atmospheres with downtempo, cloud rap, and abstract R&B. The elusive figure has joined forces with performers including Skepta, Connie Constance, and Jordan Rakei while drawing notice through indistinct solo projects such as the XYZ EP issued in 2020.
His birth took place in Brixton, and his initial outing arrived via the 2013 single "Drift" alongside vocalist Carla. After issuing his first EP, TRIPS, independently in 2015, Kai stepped up his behind-the-scenes activity, teaming extensively with Jesse James Solomon and supplying material for Rosie Lowe, Connie Constance, Rago Foot, and further acts. During 2018 he oversaw production on Jordan Rakei's laid-back funk tune "Maya," issued additional cuts that same year such as "Muesli" featuring Lowe and "Iris" with Daisy Maybe, and crafted "The Answer" for Maybe's link-up with Skepta.
