Biography
Originating from Gary, Indiana just as the Jackson family and Deniece Williams had done earlier, K'La functions as a singer, MC, and songwriter. She relocated to Atlanta, Georgia together with her two children and a fellow single mother in pursuit of musical prospects, where she eventually linked up with Anthony "T.A." Tate, who had already boosted the trajectories of Ciara and J. Holiday. Contracted to his Music Line imprint, she introduced herself in 2010 through the mixtape The Coldest Winter alongside the laid-back single "All Your Love," which reached Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart that December. The subsequent release, the understated yet exceptional Salaam Remi production "Blame" that includes a guest verse from Nas, came out in July 2012 and registered on the chart the month after.
