Biography
The Klass Band Brotherhood blends its Southern soul heritage with classic blues, funk, and the early-'80s Minneapolis sound shaped by Prince and the Time. Fronted by multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and songwriter Nelson Curry, the North Augusta, South Carolina outfit traces its beginnings to the Klass and le Klass ensembles that performed and recorded across the 1980s and 1990s. Curry later adopted the Klass Band Brotherhood name to recognize every musician who had moved through those prior lineups. He launched the Neo Blues Music imprint expressly for KBB, which has issued the albums Out of the Shadows of Soul (2011, spotlighting one of its signature songs, "Sugaa Shack") and We Call the Shots in Soul (2013), plus the EP A New Beginning (2016).
