Biography
Chris Child earned multiple Daytime Emmy Award nominations for scoring the daytime dramas As the World Turns and One Life to Live. Under the solo alias Kodomo—a Japanese word meaning “child” that nods to his early years spent in Japan—he also crafts his own electronic recordings. Operating out of New York, he has supplied original music to several Harmonix titles, among them Amplitude, Frequency, and Phase, while NPR has featured select productions. Shaped by the approaches of Brian Eno, Cabaret Voltaire, and Boards of Canada, Kodomo’s output blends orchestral elements, synth pop, and IDM into melodic, dreamlike pieces that draw on numerous additional genres. Between 2007 and 2008 the 5 Points label issued his Kodomo material, which included the album Still Life. He independently released Frozen in Motion in 2011, followed by the third album Patterns & Light in 2014. Three years afterward came the EP Divider, whose atmospheric, occasionally rhythm-driven tracks weave in found sounds.
