Konke catapulted into prominence within the amapiano world by teaming with Musa Keys for the 2022 single “Kancane.” Subsequent partnerships involving Cyfred, Chley, and Leandra.Vert paved the way for his first mini-album, Malandela, which appeared in 2023.

Born in Durban, South Africa, as Phiwakonke Ntokozo Ntanzi, Konke was completing the third year of law studies when online uploads of his productions prompted Musa Keys to propose a joint project that yielded “Kancane.” The track’s massive streaming numbers immediately placed him at center stage. Although his earlier tastes leaned toward R&B and hip-hop, the sessions with Keys drew him fully into amapiano’s blend of deep house, jazz, and African-rooted rhythms. He quickly added the follow-up cuts “M’nike,” “Blue Tick,” and “Zonke Ekhonei,” again working alongside Cyfred, Chley, and Leandra.Vert. “Skeem Saam” surfaced in 2023, and Malandela arrived only days afterward.
