During the 1980s and 1990s, Krisanthi Pappas emerged among several capable jazz vocalists who established New England as their primary base for performances. Her training encompassed core musical principles, theory, pedagogy, along with vocal and piano instruction at the Boston Conservatory of Music, Berklee College of Music, and Princeton University. Community theater stages hosted her initial appearances throughout the 1970s. A supper club in Brockton marked her professional debut, where she delivered easy listening numbers and show tunes. Between the early 1980s and 1996, Pappas toured extensively across the United States and Caribbean venues—including hotels, festivals, and cruise ships—alongside her "Moondance" ensemble. After redirecting her artistic emphasis from rock and pop toward cabaret and jazz, she secured regular engagements at Schullers Jazz Club in Boston and Regattabar Club in Cambridge. Magnetic Music issued her debut recording in 1997, an homage to George Gershwin that showcased her vibrant yet nuanced approach to the timeless compositions of George and Ira Gershwin while also highlighting her abilities as a songwriter. She maintains an active schedule at venues throughout the Boston region and at various jazz and blues festivals, including occasions opening for Chuck Magione. Regular collaborations with the John Payne Band complement her seasonal winter performances on the Caribbean island of Nevis, in addition to her private instruction in music theory, voice, and piano.
