Biography
Kung Pao assembled as a trio in 1997 and soon afterward moved their base from Madison, WI, carrying their dense fusion of metal and punk into New York City. Bassist T.B., drummer Davey D, and guitarist/vocalist Chovie D channeled the AmRep Records approach of the Melvins and Helmet when they first captured that style on a 1998 split single with Tucker, released by Maduro Records. The next winter -ismist Records helped issue the band’s debut full-length, Bogota.
