Born in 1989 in Culiacán, Mexico, Kurt Schmidt Ramos performs and records under the simpler name Kurt. A Latin pop singer and songwriter raised amid musicians, he mastered guitar and drums on his own and started composing at fifteen. Despite clear ability, he withheld his voice from audiences until his mid-twenties, testing material first in hometown clubs before moving on to stages in Mexico City.

The year 2016 brought his debut single, whose immediate traction stemmed from a voice that drew instant notice and from a deliberate embrace of unabashedly romantic, classic Latin pop, rock, and ballad forms—elements then uncommon amid the prevailing urbano current yet still widely embraced. Universal soon signed him, and his first full-length effort, En Medio de Este Ruido, arrived in 2019 carrying the singles “Vengo del Futuro,” “10 Veces Mejor,” and the reggae-tinged “La Mujer Perfecta.” That release eventually earned double-platinum certification and a Latin Grammy nod for Best New Artist.

Kurt’s next album, La Vida, followed in 2021 and featured collaborative tracks with Leonel García, Carin León, Cami, Jesús Adrián Romero, Intocable, and Sting. The project secured his second Latin Grammy nomination, this time for Best Traditional Vocal Pop Album. Kintsugi surfaced in 2024.
