Kyle Taylor Parker stepped onto the Broadway stage in the 2010s, bringing a vocal tone at once rich and bright while originating parts in Kinky Boots and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. His first solo album, the covers collection Broadway Soul, Vol. 1, appeared in 2019.

From childhood onward, Parker immersed himself in musical theater while growing up in Wisconsin, absorbing Broadway cast albums alongside releases from Motown Records. Regional productions of Hair and Dreamgirls featured him early on, after which he traveled with the national company of In the Heights; his Broadway bow came in April 2013 when he created the role of Angel in Kinky Boots. He later took over the lead character Lola for that show’s first national tour and then succeeded Billy Porter as Lola on Broadway in 2015. In April 2017 he joined the original Broadway cast of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which reached New York shortly after its West End run had ended. Still in 2017 he contributed a track to Wish: The Anderson & Petty Holiday Album by Barry Anderson and Mark Petty, and the following year he appeared among the ensemble of NBC’s Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert.

On his solo debut Parker fused his longstanding affection for show tunes with soul music; Broadway Soul, Vol. 1 reached listeners via Broadway Records in 2019.
