Biography
Kyp Harness first entered the world in Sarnia, Ontario, before gradually carving out a place for himself in the Canadian music landscape. A self-produced cassette titled Nowhere Fast appeared in 1991, with his debut compact disc, God's Footstool, arriving the following year. Folk clubs and college venues throughout the country responded warmly to his songs, cultivating a modest underground following that responded to the combination of tender, emotionally direct ballads and cutting humor. Welcome to the Revolution arrived in 1994, generating several regional successes and becoming his strongest commercial release to that point. After a six-year recording hiatus, he resurfaced with Houdini in Reverse, an album that presented a more compassionate and understated Harness whose incisive quality nevertheless remained intact.
