La Belle Epoque, a female disco trio headquartered in Paris, notched multiple club successes throughout the late 1970s. Foremost among them was the 1977 single “Miss Broadway,” which climbed to a Top 30 position on the R&B charts; the group also enjoyed traction with the elongated “Disco Sound” medley that folded in a cover of Los Bravos’ 1960s pop staple “Black Is Black.” Their debut full-length, the soul/Euro-disco hybrid Miss Broadway, appeared that same year. One year later came the more synth-driven Bamalama, whose title track comprised another expansive medley of disco reworkings applied to rock oldies.
