La Gabi

La Gabi, an urbano performer specializing in song and dance, entered the world in the Dominican Republic before her family relocated to the United States, where she spent her formative years in Miami. Clips she shared online of her interpretations of reggaeton tracks caught the ear of Colombian superstar J Balvin, who responded enthusiastically to her take on his track “Loco Contigo.” At eighteen, she became the inaugural artist signed to his freshly established Ma G Nation imprint, which issued her debut project in 2021—a seven-track set called Origen. Early festival bookings, awards, and nominations quickly positioned the rising talent as a likely breakout figure within the style. She next teamed with Villano Antillano, paopao, Aria Vega, and Cami Da Baby on the 2022 album Hembrismo, a high-energy party record centered on messages of female empowerment. The following year brought the EP GabiN.E.T.E., which mixed trap, rap, Afrobeat, reggaeton, and EDM and included the successful single “Coco.” Additional tracks appeared in 2024 with the releases of “Lucky” and “Pikito.”
