Biography
In 2005 the seeds of LadybiRdS took root while Tyler Pursel and Teeter Sperber toured and recorded alongside the fleeting indie outfit Ley Royal Scam. Once that act wrapped up following a well-received run opening for Taking Back Sunday, Pursel—listed as keyboardist and guitarist—moved on to Gym Class Heroes, the noted emo act, whereas Sperber headed to Oregon seeking quiet reflection and renewal. Pursel soon conceived a breezier, groove-oriented venture and brought his former bandmate Sperber aboard to handle vocals, thereby forming LadybiRdS. The pair sequestered themselves in the subterranean space beneath Creep Records’ Pennsylvania offices and surfaced several months later with their first full-length effort, the 2007 release Regional Community Theatre. Although the album remained chiefly the work of the core duo, guest appearances by Say Anything’s Max Bemis, the Get Up Kids’ Matt Pryor, the Danger O’s’ Justin Johnson, and Fairmont’s Neil Sabatino supplied additional studio energy.
