Biography
Renowned worldwide for his inventive club performances, the producer, selector, and event organizer Lag established a distinct voice within the realm of fractured, industrial-flavored techno. His trajectory took shape with the fractured rhythms of the 2013 Misfit EP and continued through the hallucinatory textures of 2018’s Rutra, positioning him among the foremost figures in international techno.
Born in Serbia as Miloš Martinov, Lag absorbed punk during his formative years before pursuing formal training in classical composition. Seeking an outlet beyond those traditions, he gravitated toward techno, fusing his academic grounding with the raw ethos of his punk roots. He first gained notice behind the decks, then launched 29524, an outfit that combined club programming with workshops and learning initiatives. Soon he was booked regularly for sets that blended exploratory and uncompromising strains of the genre.
His studio work drew the attention of veteran Bas Mooy, who released the 2013 Misfit and 2014 Fiend EPs on Mord. Lag also placed the Stutter EP with Singularity Recordings. While concentrating on live appearances, he delivered 2016’s Unrest via London’s THEM label and returned to Mord the next year for the third installment in his catalog there, All the Children Are Insane. In 2018 he collaborated with Rebekah on a split single for her Elements imprint, each artist contributing an original track and reworking the other’s material.
