Biography
L'Algérino stood out as a central voice within Marseilles' thriving hip-hop environment. This French rapper entered the world on May 2, 1981, inside the demanding Félix Pyat area of the city. He took up rap during adolescence and became a member of the area-based crew B-Vice Juniors. Performing initially as Samir, his given name, he gained early notice through work alongside Psy4 de la Rime, an association that introduced him to Akhenaton from the respected IAM collective. Akhenaton gave his fresh discovery the name L'Algérino, placed him on the 361 Records roster, and released Les Derniers Seront les Premiers in spring 2005. That project achieved unexpected commercial traction, which brought L'Algérino a contract with 609, the Warner Bros. affiliate. Mentalité Pirate arrived in early 2007 as his first major-label effort.
