Biography
Born Eulalio González on December 16, 1921, in Herreras, Nuevo Leon, Lalo Gonzáles launched his professional life performing in radio soap operas. It was there that he introduced the character El Piporro, a musician and adventurer from the north, whose immediate popularity brought González widespread recognition. The figure proved so enduring that it soon migrated to the screen, where El Piporro frequently appeared alongside Pedro Infante. Over time González came to inhabit the role so completely that the boundary between performer and persona all but vanished, prompting a run of recordings and live appearances that carried the character beyond its fictional origins.
