Biography
Landmine Marathon came together in Phoenix during 2004 with the aim of reviving classic grindcore while nodding to death metal, hardcore, and thrash. Among the rare bands in that sphere fronted by a woman, the group put out an initial demo in 2005 and later secured a deal with Level Plane. Grace Perry handled vocals, Mike Waldron and Ryan Butler played guitar, Matt Martinez held down bass, and Mike Pholmeier sat behind the drums; together they drew fans through high-energy concerts and issued their debut full-length, Wounded, in 2006. A split EP alongside Scarecrow arrived the next year and earned favorable notice, after which the band delivered its second album, Rusted Eyes Awake, in 2008.
