Biography
A television producer and on-air personality who first entered the national spotlight through her marriage to Eric Trump, Lara Trump stepped into music during September 2023 by issuing a country rendition of Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down."
Born Lara Yunaska on October 12, 1982, in Wilmington, North Carolina, she completed a communication degree at North Carolina State University. After earning a pastry-arts diploma from the French Culinary Institute, she transitioned into broadcast journalism. Her initial breakthrough arrived in 2012 when she joined Inside Edition as a producer and story coordinator. Roughly two years later she wed Eric Trump, the third child of Donald J. Trump. Upon Donald J. Trump's 2016 presidential bid, she departed Inside Edition.
She contributed to the 2016 campaign effort, afterward assuming duties as a fundraiser and online producer for the Trump administration. During the 2020 reelection drive she expanded her responsibilities, acting as senior consultant to Brad Parscale. Between 2021 and 2022 she remained visible in Republican circles as a Fox News pundit while fielding questions about a possible United States Senate campaign to succeed retiring Richard Burr; instead she declined and backed eventual nominee Ted Budd.
Trump entered the music industry in September 2023 with her country version of Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down." Four years earlier the 2020 Donald Trump campaign had sought to license the original recording, prompting a cease-and-desist notice from the Petty estate. Her cover climbed to the Top Ten of Billboard's Digital Song Sales chart.
