Biography
Larry Kirwan, an Irish expatriate working as a singer, songwriter, and playwright, first earned recognition as the frontman of Black 47. The group, founded in 1989, merges Celtic accents with folk-rock and has issued material on SBK, Mercury, Shanachie, and Gadfly. Kirwan has also authored multiple stage works staged throughout the U.S. and Europe, five of them collected in the 1993 volume Mad Angels. His earliest solo project appeared in 1998 as the children’s recording Keltic Kids, whereas Kilroy Was Here, issued in 2001, served as his initial solo album aimed at adult listeners.
