Biography
Larry Rice launched his bluegrass journey as a mandolinist in the Golden State Boys, the ensemble led by his father. He subsequently assembled the Haphazards alongside siblings Tony and Ronnie. During the 1970s Rice helped establish the New South alongside J.D. Crowe, Doyle Lawson, Red Allen and Bobby Slone. Upon departing that group in 1976, the year Ricky Skaggs stepped in as his replacement, he joined Dickey Betts for a series of tours. Hurricanes and Daydreams, his debut solo release, surfaced in 1985 and was succeeded by Time Machine; Notions and Novelties followed in 1996.
