Biography
Having acquired proficiency on guitar and mandolin from his father, Larry Stephenson assembled his debut bluegrass ensemble while still enrolled in high school. Brief engagements with Cliff Waldron preceded longer tenures in Bill Harrell and His Virginians from 1979 to 1983 and the Bluegrass Cardinals from 1983 to 1989. He then launched an independent career, issuing Born to Sing on the Pinecastle label, after which On Fire appeared in 1998.
