Biography
Hideki Ito launched Las Moscas in 2000 as his solo recording endeavor, even as he devoted considerable effort to Calletta Craft Typewriter and Thriftmm Rag Film Cinema Trip while making sporadic contributions to Olivia Tremor Control. Characterizing his output merely as "junk," Ito—who adopted the Spanish term for "the Flies" as his project's name—keeps a portable tape recorder on hand at all times to capture any intriguing sounds that might fit into upcoming work. This approach yielded a blend of noise-clustered indie pop, prompting Morc Records to issue the project's first EP in 2001 as a split release alongside the Bingo Trappers.
