Biography
Upon earning an ethnic-musicologist degree from the National Music School, Mexican singer/songwriter Laura Abitia first stepped before a large public in 1988. Joined by the ensemble Cuatrova, she delivered the number “Sabina” during a nationwide vocal competition. In 1990 she supplied original music for the regionally produced television series El Abuelo y Yo under Pedro Damián’s supervision. The live unveiling of her self-titled album occurred on December 11, 1997, after she had aligned with Jorge García Montemayor, Erika Hernández, and Enrique Quezada. She went on to serve as producer of the stage work Mujeres En Fuga.
