Biography
Lauren Fincham, a vocalist and composer originating from Jacksonville, Florida, eventually settled in Atlanta, Georgia. Having acquired her skills independently, she delayed her entry into professional performances until reaching the age of twenty-four. Her initial compensated appearance occurred at the neighborhood Elks Club, where she delivered renditions of her sole three known compositions—an Eagles number, an Eddie Arnold piece, and a Joni Mitchell melody—from start to finish. In exchange for her efforts, she received an unlimited buffet along with a pair of Bloody Mary cocktails. Only after an additional four years did she commit to songwriting and full-time stage work.
Her introductory record, Soul Guardians, appeared in 1991 via Twelfth House Records, featuring selections such as "Just to Survive," "The Last Parade," and "Sebastian Point." Following her involvement in a 1993 various-artists project, she completed her second individual album, Savants, during the subsequent year. Show and Tell arrived in 1997. Planning for another project commenced in 2000, targeting a release in the beginning of 2001. Amidst capturing her compositions and contributing to recordings by fellow musicians, Fincham maintained a busy touring schedule across coffeehouses and clubs. She has served as a supporting act for John and Mary, Toad the Wet Sprocket, and additional performers. Her sound blends elements of electric guitar-driven rock, alternative folk, and somber acoustic ballads.
